Frequently Asked Questions

  • A. Yes! I can absolutely help cut through all the food and nutrition ’noise’ and by taking a personalised approach to what your current eating patterns and style is we can Taylor a food pan which is specific to your needs.

  • A. The best diet is one that balanced, sustainable and fits your individual lifestyle, health and preferences.

  • A. Absolutely. We can work together to make small sustainable changes over a period of time that will really make a difference and ensure that your new habits are properly embedded, so you won’t be on your own.

  • A. Sometimes restriction is necessary eg coeliac disease, lactose intolerant. Other times moderation might be more appropriate.

  • A. That will depend on several factors such as weight, age, goals and general health status.

  • A. This is a hot topic! It completely depends on what your current lifestyle is. I will analyse your food diary and can help you make any changes that might improve your gut microbiome. But I won’t be recommending any expensive fibre ‘supplements’ or advising you to ‘detox’!

  • A. Many people are encouraged to take various supplements, often recommended by well meaning friends or therapists. My approach is always food first - focussing on achieving optimal nutrition through a balanced and varied diet.

It’s important to remember that the body is a finely tuned, balanced system. Excessive doses of vitamins and minerals can disrupt this equilbrium  forcing the body to work hard to regulate and eliminate what it doesn’t need. In many cases unnecessary supplements are simply excreted - an expensive exercise with little benefit.

Where dietary intake alone may not be sufficient, I offer guidance on evidence based supplements to support individual needs.
